Our degenerative system imprisons way too many

'I am convinced that imprisonment is a way of pretending to solve the problem of crime. It does nothing for the victims of crime, but perpetuates the idea of retribution, thus maintaining the endless cycle of violence in our culture. It is a cruel and useless substitute for the elimination of those conditions--poverty, unemployment, homelessness, desperation, racism, greed--which are at the root of most punished crime. The crimes of the rich and powerful go mostly unpunished. It must surely be a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit that even a small number of those men and women in the hell of the prison system survive it and hold on to their humanity.'

Psychedelic Seminars is an educational conversation series deepening awareness of the benefits, risks, and complexities of psychedelics. ​ In parallel to the new wave of research from MAPS to Johns Hopkins, we progress the cultural understanding through discussions with scientists, therapists, healers, authors, activists, and entertainers. They explore intersections with other cutting edge subjects through a psychedelic lens. As psychedelics enter the mainstream, we cultivate the necessary critical thinking and community building, bringing together thousands in person and online.

The Law Enforcement Action Partnership (LEAP), is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit of police, prosecutors, judges, and others who want to reduce incarceration, end the War on Drugs, and transform the way police interact with communities. Though working with a small staff, our media reach for such subjects as sentencing reform, the end of cash bail, harm reduction, and police accountability easily equal those of organizations several times our size, providing a voice to the many people working for reform inside the system and complicating the traditional narrative of what 'public safety' really means.
